Announcement of 2016 COAA-SCC Fall Workshop

Dear COAA-SCC Members and Friends,

You are cordially invited to attend the annual COAA-SCC Fall Workshop on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, at the Beckman Institute Auditorium, California Institute of Technology. The theme of this year’s workshop is New Perspectives on Research and Application of Earth, Atmosphere, and Oceanic Sciences. It features a number of invited talks covering frontier research directions, commercial applications of remote sensing and atmospheric/oceanic sciences, policies and experiences in collaborations with Chinese institutes and business, as well as tips for publishing in academic journals. We will also celebrate together recent award winners and fellow recognitions.

A poster contest will be open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. This is a perfect opportunity for young scholars to publicize your research and seek feedbacks. Different from conventional poster contests, the best posters will be judged based on “Popular Votes” – everyone will participate in judging and whoever gets the most votes will be the winner(s)! Please join us in this fun activity and support your colleagues!
Lunch and dinner will be provided. A preliminary agenda is attached.
The enrollment and renewal of your annual COAA membership will be conducted together with the workshop registration, starting at 10:30 am. The COAA membership fee is $5.00 for students and $10.00 for non-students. The workshop registration fee is

COAA members and family: $10.00 per person (including membership)
Non members and family: $20.00 per person
Children under 12: free

Please RSVP by October 25, 2016 to COAA-SCC Regional Directors if you are coming to the workshop and how many in your party are with you for lunch and dinner, or participate in the poster contest.
